Dr Otokunor, Eastern Regional Minister launches capacity-building training for coconut farmers in Koforidua
The Director of Agribusiness at the Office of the President, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, on Monday joined the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, to officially open a capacity-building and training exercise for coconut farmers in the Eastern Region.
The programme, held at the Ascension Presbyterian Church Auditorium in Koforidua, brought together key stakeholders in the agricultural sector, including the Regional Director of Agriculture, District Directors, and Agriculture Extension Agents from across the region.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the coconut value chain and improve productivity among farmers through modern farming practices, technical knowledge, and enhanced extension support.
Addressing participants, Dr Otokunor underscored the importance of equipping farmers with the right skills and tools to increase yields, improve quality, and boost incomes.
He noted that building the capacity of farmers remains critical to the success and sustainability of agribusiness initiatives in the region.
The exercise is expected to enhance collaboration between farmers and agricultural officers, while promoting best practices that will contribute to increased coconut production and economic growth in the Eastern Region.
