Engineers cardinal to Ghana’s dev’t – Bawumia
Dr Bawumia said engineering is a cardinal area in the economic development of Ghana, especially the indigenous engineering sector.
He emphasised that engineers are key economic players, “as we try to build a new Ghana”, adding that: “As part of our ongoing collaboration with the Institution, we have launched the first-ever comprehensive Building Code for Ghana.”
Dr Bawumia said this on Friday, 29 March 2019 at the 50th Presidential Inauguration Banquet of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) at Akosombo in the Eastern Region.
Dr Bawumia noted that through the help of GhIE, the government has set up a body to look into issues pertaining to earthquakes, how prepared the country is for such eventualities and the measures to take to prevent or mitigate their potential impact on life and property.
He added that the government will continue to work with GhIE on all matters relating to engineering excellence.
