GA/R: Gbawe kwatei family installs new family head
The Gbawe Kwatei family of Gbawe has officially installed a new family head in a ceremony marked by tradition, unity, and renewed commitment to development.
The event, held over the weekend at Gbawe in the Accra metropolis, brought together family elders, community leaders, youth groups, and well-wishers.
The installation followed customary rites and consultations in line with Ga traditions.
The newly appointed family head, Nii Kwatei Quartey, succeeds Ebenezer Kpakpa Quartey( aka white white), pledged to promote peace, transparency, and progress within the Kwatei family and the wider Gbawe community.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked the elders for their confidence in him and called for unity among family members both at home and abroad.
“I am humbled by the trust reposed in me.
Together, we will preserve our heritage and work towards the development of our family lands and the welfare of every member,” he said.
Elders of the family emphasised that the selection process was guided by tradition, consensus, and the best interests of the family. They urged the youth to respect leadership and actively participate in initiatives that will uplift the family’s name.
Community representatives also took turns to congratulate the new head, expressing hope that his leadership would strengthen collaboration between the Tomete family and local authorities within the Gbawe area.
