Ghana, United States reaffirm commitment to strengthening bilateral relations
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto- Ablakwa, has held talks with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Ghana, Mr. Rolf Olson, as part of efforts to further strengthen the long-standing relations between Ghana and the United States.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, January 13, provided an opportunity for both sides to review key achievements over the past year and exchange views on bilateral and regional issues of shared interest.
Mr. Ablakwa highlighted the enduring partnership between the two countries, noting significant cooperation in areas such as trade, health and people-to-people relations.
He underscored the importance of continued collaboration with the United States in promoting peace and stability, both within the sub-region and beyond.
The Foreign Affairs Minister also raised concerns relating to consular cooperation, visa processing and broader immigration matters, stressing the need for sustained dialogue and improved coordination to address challenges affecting citizens of both countries.
In his remarks, Mr. Olson reaffirmed the commitment of the United States government to deepening its partnership with Ghana.
He acknowledged the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation and provided updates on ongoing discussions in key areas of collaboration.
He further emphasised the United States’ readiness to work closely with Ghana to advance shared interests.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made in Ghana–US relations and pledged to sustain and strengthen cooperation in pursuit of mutual benefits.
