Ghana jersey on Independence Day meant to promote ‘Bring Back the Love’ campaign – GTA CEO
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has revealed that the decision to encourage Ghanaians to wear the national football jersey during Independence Day celebrations was part of efforts to promote the “Bring Back the Love” campaign ahead of the next FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview on Oman Ghana Nkosoɔ morning show on Accra-bsed CTV with host Obaa Yaa Titi, Madam Houadjeto explained that the initiative was designed as a gradual activation to encourage patriotism and rally support for Ghana’s national football team.
According to her, the campaign aims to inspire both footballers and citizens to believe in the country’s chances of winning the World Cup.
She noted that the initiative is meant to unite Ghanaians and build excitement as the nation prepares for future international football competitions.
“We are gradually promoting the campaign as an activation.
It is to encourage the footballers and Ghanaians that when we go to the World Cup, we believe we can bring the cup home and achieve what we have not done before,” she said.
Madam Houadjeto also highlighted the tourism potential of the initiative, stating that the Ghana jersey can serve as a symbol of national pride for both citizens and visitors.
She added that tourists visiting the country could also be encouraged to wear the Ghana jersey as part of efforts to promote Ghanaian culture and identity.
The “Bring Back the Love” campaign is aimed at rekindling national enthusiasm for Ghana’s football and strengthening unity among supporters as the country looks ahead to major international tournaments.
