Interior Minister renews Sampa curfew

The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, has extended the nightly curfew imposed on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.

Under the renewed directive, movement within the township is restricted from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily, with the order taking effect from Thursday, January 22, 2026.

The decision follows recommendations from the Bono Regional Security Council and has been enforced through an Executive Instrument.

In a statement, government appealed to traditional leaders, community influencers, the youth, and residents of the area to remain calm despite the prevailing challenges. Authorities encouraged the use of peaceful and lawful channels to address grievances in order to maintain stability in the community.

Additionally, security agencies have enforced a complete prohibition on the possession of firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons within Sampa Township. Anyone found in possession of such items will be apprehended and face legal action.
