Ketu North MCE condemns violence in Ehi leading to death of one, police station torched by youth
The Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive, Rev Martin Amenaki, has condemned the violent clash in Ehi that led to the death of one person, the injury of several including police officers, and the burning of the Ehi Police Station in the Volta Region.
The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, November 3, 2025, between 8 PM and 8 PM reportedly began as a confrontation between two individuals at Ehi, resulting in the death of one person.
Following the death of the youth, the aggrieved youth besieged the Ehi Police Station, where the suspect had rushed to for refuge, and lynched him.
According to the Municipal Police Commander, Chief Superintendent William Gyamfi, the mob vandaliSed vehicles and attacked police personnel on duty, causing injuries to some officers.
The situation became tensed and the youth eventually torched the Ehi Police Station, demanding the release of the suspect.
Rev Amenaki, the Municipal CEO and the Chairman for the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), expressed deep regret over the tragic events and strongly condemned the acts of violence and destruction caused.
He described the attack as unacceptable and a clear violation of the rule of law.
“Mob justice is unacceptable and undermines the rule of law we all strive to uphold. MUSEC, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies, has initiated swift measures to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents,” the statement read.
The MCE also appealed to traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and the youth of Ehi and surrounding communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies as investigations continue.
The Ketu North Municipal Assembly has assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring justice for all.
