Lovers who stole baby arrested

The police in Takoradi have vowed to track down and arrest all the suspects linked to the theft of a one-year-old baby boy at Takoradi Market Circle One in the Western Region after finding the whereabouts of the boy.

Francis Mawusi Ahiabenu, who went missing on Friday, 22 March 2019, was found by the SWAT team of the Ghana Police Service in the early hours of Tuesday, 26 March 2019.

The police found him at Efiakuma in the custody of a man and his girlfriend who are suspected to have stolen the child.

Addressing the press on the matter, the PRO of the Western Regional Police Command, DSP Olivia Adiku, said the couple have been picked up and are currently assisting with investigations.

“So, the suspect, by name Mawusi Rose Fiaku, age 43 years, and a seamstress; the boyfriend is Lawson Lartey, 33 years, and a mason, are currently in our custody,” she noted.

DSP Adiku said the suspects will be charged with child stealing and the boy has been reunited with the biological parents. She disclosed that the boy has been sent to the hospital for examination.
