MDF unveils new projects to boost development in mining communities

The Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw-Kotey, has announced a series of upcoming development and human empowerment projects aimed at improving the living conditions in Ghana’s mining communities.
Delivering the keynote address at the ongoing Stakeholder Forum in Accra, Dr. Bissiw emphasised the Fund’s commitment to ensuring that communities contributing significantly to the national economy through mineral resources are not left behind in the country’s development agenda.
She noted that the planned interventions will focus on critical areas such as education, healthcare, water, and sanitation, all aimed at addressing the long-standing neglect often experienced by residents of mining areas.
“Our goal is to ensure that the people whose land and livelihoods fuel our mineral wealth benefit meaningfully from the resources extracted from their communities,” Dr. Bissiw stated.
“These projects are designed to empower, uplift, and restore dignity to these communities.”
The Stakeholder Forum brought together policymakers, traditional leaders, civil society groups, and representatives from mining communities to deliberate on strategies to maximise the impact of mineral revenues at the local level.
Further details on the rollout of the projects are expected in the coming months.
