President John Dramani Mahama has challenged Ghana's youth to pursue success through hard work, integrity and discipline, urging them to shun drug abuse and resist the temptation of taking shortcuts in life.

Delivering an address at the 2026 National Day of Prayer in Accra on Wednesday, July 1, the President said the country's future will be shaped by the values and decisions of its citizens, particularly young people.

Speaking on the theme, "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want," President Mahama encouraged the youth to dream big, invest in education and skills development, and remain committed to ethical living as they prepare to lead the nation.

He stressed that Ghana's progress depends on a generation that values honesty, responsibility and perseverance over quick but dishonest gains.

The President also appealed to Ghanaians to continue promoting peace, unity and reconciliation, describing these values as essential to preserving the country's stability and democratic growth.

He commended public sector workers for their service to the nation and urged them to uphold professionalism, accountability and transparency, noting that public trust in state institutions is built on integrity.

President Mahama also paid tribute to the security services for their dedication in protecting lives and maintaining peace, describing national security as a critical pillar for sustainable development.

To the private sector, he encouraged business leaders to continue expanding their investments, driving innovation and creating employment opportunities, assuring them of government's commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.

He further acknowledged the contributions of farmers, artisans and workers, saying their efforts remain indispensable to food security, industrial growth and the country's economic development.

The President concluded by reminding citizens that national development is a collective responsibility, saying every act of honesty, compassion, integrity and selfless service contributes to building a stronger and more prosperous Ghana.
