Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies approval for DVLA services abroad
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted viral reports suggesting that it had authorised staff of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to operate in countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Germany to register and renew driving licenses for Ghanaians living abroad.
In an official statement, the Samuel O. Ablakwa-led ministry clarified that no directive has been issued to Ghana’s diplomatic missions and no approval has been granted for such an arrangement.
The ministry further emphasised that it is not aware of any new government policy supporting this claim.
“There has been no formal engagement, no new policy, and no financial commitment regarding this matter,” the ministry said, stressing that no irrefutable evidence exists to support the purported arrangement.
The ministry also reassured the public of its commitment to transparency and financial prudence in all public service delivery, urging citizens to verify information before circulating reports that could be misleading.
