MoH orders investigation into Fourth Estate report on Ridge Hospital
The Ministry of Health has announced that it will probe concerns highlighted in an investigative publication by The Fourth Estate relating to the operations of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital.
In an official statement, the Ministry said it is aware of the report, which has attracted significant public attention, particularly across social media platforms.
According to the Ministry, it empathises with patients and families who may have encountered substandard treatment or unprofessional behaviour within healthcare facilities.
The statement reiterated the government’s resolve to improve access to healthcare and lessen the emotional and financial strain faced by individuals seeking medical services.
However, the Ministry indicated that certain disclosures contained in the report were troubling and could not be overlooked, stressing the need for a detailed assessment of the allegations raised.
As a response, the Ministry disclosed plans to set up a formal inquiry to examine the issues outlined in the investigation.
It explained that an investigative body will be established and tasked with reviewing the matter comprehensively, with a mandate to submit its findings within 14 working days.
The Ministry further appealed to all relevant parties to support the process, noting that cooperation would be critical in uncovering the facts and strengthening standards of care within the health sector.
