The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has urged the party’s five presidential hopefuls to publicly commit to respecting the outcome of the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Mr Osei Owusu made the appeal during a peace pact signing ceremony in Accra, stressing that the party expects all aspirants to acknowledge the integrity of the selection process and pledge their loyalty to the eventual winner.

He said the leadership wants contestants to endorse the process as open, fair and inclusive, and to assure party supporters of their readiness to stand behind whichever candidate is elected.

According to him, such a declaration would foster trust within the party and create an atmosphere that allows members to actively campaign and vote without apprehension or internal conflict.

He expressed optimism that the agreement would be honoured by all aspirants, describing it as a solemn commitment involving the party, the candidates and their faith.

Mr Osei Owusu noted that respecting the pact would enhance unity within the NPP and place the party in a stronger position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He added that the leadership’s hope is for the agreement to be treated with utmost seriousness, so that by the end of the primary, the party emerges more cohesive and prepared for the next national polls.

The presidential aspirants contesting the NPP primary include former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and engineer Kwabena Agyepong.
