No shortage of fertilisers, gov’t owes suppliers – NDC Communicator
A member of the communication team of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, has said there is no shortage of fertilisers in the world but the product is in short supply in the country because of the government’s inability to pay monies owed suppliers.
“Quote me anywhere that there is no shortage of the product for enhancing agriculture produce in the world,” he said on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, July 4, 2022.
“Nobody can tell me that there are fertiliser shortages in the world because of the Russia-Ukraine war,” he stressed.
He said fertiliser supply is abundant in countries like India and Morocco and, therefore, it is untrue for anyone to assert that there is a shortage of fertilisers because of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
He said the suppliers are unwilling to supply fertilisers to the government because of the government’s indebtedness.
“If the government can pay up its indebtedness, suppliers will supply fertilisers to the farmers,” he added
