Over GHS 8.6 million raised for August 6 tragedy children’s support fund — Dr. Valerie Sawyerr announces

The Children’s Support Fund, established to ensure the welfare of the children of victims of the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash, has so far received a total of GHS 8,600,905.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.
This was disclosed in Public Update Five (5) issued by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund.
The latest update covers contributions received between September 23 and October 12, 2025, reflecting continued public and institutional support for the welfare of the affected children.
According to Dr. Sawyerr, donations have been received from a cross-section of public institutions, private companies, and individuals, including:

Kow Eduakwa Sam
BOST Energies
Bui Power Authority
Energy Commission
Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Co. Ltd.
Israel Quarme Arye
Timothy Addai Adivilah Balagkutu
Agencies of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources
Augustus Obuadum Tanoh
Dr. Sawyerr expressed profound appreciation to all donors for their solidarity and compassion, emphasising that the Fund will be used solely for the care, education, and long-term welfare of the children who lost their parents in the tragic helicopter accident.
She also encouraged continued public support, noting that contributions can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited (Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra) via the following accounts:

Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to “CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825”, while Mobile Money (MoMo) payments can also be made through designated platforms attached to the update.
Dr. Sawyerr reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of the Fund, assuring donors that every contribution will directly benefit the children and their guardians.
“This Fund is a symbol of national unity and compassion — a reminder that even in tragedy, Ghana stands together,” she affirmed.
