President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged the newly sworn-in Chief Justice (CJ), Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, to champion continuous learning within the judiciary and strengthen the Judicial Training Institute to enhance professional development.

He further called for clear performance standards that uphold judicial independence, as well as deeper collaboration among the bench, the bar, academia, and civil society.

“A judiciary that learns is a judiciary that leads,” the president noted.

President Mahama underscored the need for effective cooperation among the executive, legislature, and judiciary while maintaining the constitutional separation of powers. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the judiciary and pledged full respect for its independence.

The president commended Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s long and distinguished service on the bench, acknowledging the high expectations of the Ghanaian people.

He urged the new Chief Justice to lead with courage and integrity, safeguard the independence of the judiciary, and inspire confidence across the judicial service.

He reminded CJ Baffoe-Bonnie that every case before the courts represented real people, families, and futures.

“If you discharge your duties faithfully, posterity will remember you as a chief justice who made a significant difference,” the president said.

President Mahama concluded by congratulating Justice Baffoe-Bonnie once again and offering prayers for wisdom, strength, and good health. He also called on citizens to uphold the Constitution and resolve disputes peacefully and lawfully.
