President Mahama marks one year in office with national thanksgiving service
President John Dramani Mahama has marked his first anniversary in office with a solemn national thanksgiving service, using the occasion to reflect on the responsibilities of leadership, the challenges of the past year, and his administration’s commitment to ethical governance and national unity.
The ceremony, held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House, brought together religious leaders, government officials, and members of the public for prayers and reflection.
In his address, President Mahama stressed that the event was not a celebration of power or political victory, but a moment to give thanks and take stock of the nation’s journey over the past year. He acknowledged that the period had been marked by economic difficulties, social anxiety, and global uncertainty, coupled with high expectations from Ghanaians.
The President underscored the need for inclusive leadership, noting the importance of listening to the voices of the youth, the vulnerable, and those who feel marginalised in society.
He described national unity as Ghana’s greatest strength and urged citizens to remain committed to collective progress.
Looking ahead, President Mahama said the year ahead would test the country’s discipline and resolve, but also present opportunities to consolidate reforms and ensure that development benefits all parts of the nation.
He reaffirmed his administration’s pledge to lead with integrity, accountability, and a renewed sense of purpose in addressing the needs of the Ghanaian people
