Sammy Gyamfi was the NDC’s revelation in opposition - Alhassan Suhuyini

Deputy Roads Minister and Tamale North MP, Alhassan Suhuyini, has come to the defence of Sammy Gyamfi, following public criticism over a viral video showing the latter gifting an undisclosed amount of US dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.
The incident, which has sparked widespread debate about ethics in public office, has prompted the Chief of Staff to summon Mr Gyamfi, who currently serves as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 12 May, Suhuyini praised Mr Gyamfi’s loyalty and service to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing him as the party’s “biggest revelation in opposition.”
While not directly addressing the controversy surrounding the cash gift, the Tamale North legislator chose the moment to publicly acknowledge Gyamfi’s longstanding dedication to the party’s cause.
“This young man was NDC’s biggest revelation in opposition, and he did everything he could—popular and unpopular—at all times to put HE JM and the NDC’s best foot forward always,” Suhuyini wrote.
“I have never acknowledged this publicly. I am choosing today to do that without more.”
Sammy Gyamfi, in an earlier statement, apologised for the incident, clarifying that the gesture was a private act of kindness that was unfortunately caught on camera.
However, critics argue that such actions could undermine President Mahama’s recently launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which seeks to promote transparency and curb corruption within the current administration.
