Stop forcing us to vote for your candidate – NPP delegates to MPs fronting for Bawumia

A group within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region calling itself Grassroots Delegates has threatened to vote out Members of Parliament (MPs) who are forcing the grassroots delegates to vote for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the party's upcoming presidential primaries.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Thursday, March 16, 2023, an Executive Member of the group, Mr Frederick Owusu, alleged that some of the MPs have taken vast sums of money from Dr Bawumia and have been putting pressure on the grassroots delegates to vote for him.
He said these MPs follow Dr Bawumia to funerals instead of doing their core mandate as Legislators because of their parochial interest.
He explained that these MPs have also been putting fear in the delegates by threatening that if they do not vote for the Vice President, they will lose their voting power in the party.
While condemning the situation, Mr Owusu further called on such MPs to allow the delegates to decide for themselves, or they will be voted out in the parliamentary primaries.
He reminded the said MPs that the delegates have a conscience and will not be swayed by these vile threats.
