The United States Embassy in Ghana has extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic stampede that occurred during the military recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
In a message shared on social media, the Embassy expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and solidarity with the people of Ghana during this difficult time.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by the El-Wak military recruitment stampede and stand in solidarity with the people of Ghana,” the statement read.
The stampede, which occurred earlier Thursday, claimed several lives and left many others injured as thousands of applicants thronged the venue to participate in the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
