UE/R: Police arrests suspect over murder of officer in Zebilla
The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 14, 2026, the arrest was carried out by a special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga. He was apprehended on February 10, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident and was later tracked to the Western Region, where he was arrested.
Authorities said the suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law. Efforts have also been intensified to identify and arrest other individuals believed to be connected to the crime.
