Vice President salutes farmers, reaffirms commitment to fair returns and dignified work
Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has lauded Ghanaian farmers for their pivotal contribution to the nation’s growth, describing them as the bedrock of the economy whose hard work keeps families and communities thriving.
In a message posted on her social media platforms to mark this year’s Farmers’ Day, the Vice President said the celebration serves as a reminder to appreciate the men and women whose labour “feeds our nation and sustains our daily lives.”
She praised farmers across every region for their resilience and determination, noting that their work represents dignity, hope, and renewed expectations with every farming season.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang reserved special commendation for women farmers, many of whom she said work each day tirelessly to support their families.
Their example, she stated, strengthens efforts to build a system that offers better support, protects their livelihoods, and creates expanded opportunities in agriculture.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Vice President said policies will continue to be designed to strengthen the agricultural sector, guarantee farmers fair returns on their produce, and promote humane and dignified working conditions.
“As we celebrate Farmers’ Day, we renew both our gratitude and our responsibility,” she noted, offering prayers for God’s continued blessings on the nation and its farmers.
