King of Dagbon Ndan YaNa Abukari II has enskinned Muhammadu Baba Bawa, Chief of Voggu in the Kumbungu District in the Northern Region as the new Nanton Na.

He will succeed the late Nanton Na Sulley Alhassan, who ruled Nanton since 1987.

Nanton Na Bawa was the Regent of Savelugu between 1997 and 2000.

He became the chief of Kpano under the traditional title Kpan Na Bawa, from 2000 to 2012.

In 2012, the then-Kpan Na Bawa became the chief of Voggu, a town in the Kumbungu district, until his new title Nanton Na Bawa.

He represented the Northern Region on the Council of State between 2009 and 2017.

He was the spokesperson of the Andani royal family at the Manhyia Mediation Committee.

He was also the spokesperson of Ya Na Abukari II.

Nanton Na Bawa is an educationist by profession. He sits in many corporate boards in the country. He is a graduate of the University of Education, Winneba.
