Youth and Sports Committee visit Black Stars ahead of World Cup qualifier

The Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports has paid a working visit to the Ghana Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium to boost the team’s morale ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying match against Les Sao of Chad today, March 21, 2025.
The delegation was introduced to the team by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Iddi Adams, who assured the players of Ghana’s unwavering support and urged them to give their all in securing victory.
Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee, Ernest Henry Norgbey, reinforced the team's importance to the nation, stating that over 30 million Ghanaians, including the 276 Members of Parliament, were rallying behind them.
He emphasized the country’s collective aspiration to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and push for a historic final in the USA.
Ranking Member of the Committee, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, highlighted football’s unifying power in Ghana, noting that it brings together people from all political backgrounds.
"Sometimes, football is the only time you see both NPP and NDC members singing in unison," he remarked.
He also stressed that while financial incentives are important, patriotism remains the key motivation for the players.
He encouraged them to remain focused throughout the 90-minute game, expressing confidence in their ability to secure victory.
Head Coach Otto Addo commended the Committee for their support and assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars would fight to make the nation proud.
The team is expected to put in a spirited performance as they take on Chad, with hopes of advancing further in the World Cup qualifiers.
