39 Democracy Hub protesters arraigned, remanded
The Accra Circuit Court has remanded into police custody 39 people who were arrested for unlawful deeds during the recent three-day protest organised by pressure group Democracy Hub.
In court, 10, charged with conspiracy to assemble unlawfully pleaded not guilty. They were remanded, their case adjourned to October 8.
Charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, and offensive conduct, a group of 9 protesters, pleaded not guilty. They were remanded to reappear on October 8.
There was a third batch of 11 protesters remanded into prison custody, with their case adjourned to October 8.
In a different courtroom, another group comprising 9 persons were remanded to reappear on October 11.
Furthermore, a bench warrant was issued for a person who failed to appear in court.

Social media influencer Ama Governor was among those arrested and arraigned.
"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery,” she exclaimed, echoings Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley’s thoughts, as she was escorted to court.
Meanwhile, Convener for Democracy Hub, Oliver Baker-Vormawor, is to appear in court on Wednesday, September 25.
The Democracy Hub protests took centre stage at the 37 Military Hospital Roundabout, Accra, where protesters clashed with the Ghana Police Service.
Illegal small-scale mining, alias galamsey, and economic mismanagement, were two of the concerns of the protesters.
