70 suspected criminals busted in Kasoa swoop

More than 70 suspected criminals have been arrested in a swoop by the Kasoa Divisional Police Command in the Central Region.
The police command indicated that the swoop forms part of measures to intensify security in Kasoa to reduce the rampant killings and robbery attacks in the area.
Some of these suspected criminals were arrested at weed-smoking bases while others were also hiding at the cemetery with their bags and mats.
More than 200 motorbikes were also seized by the police.
Some of them were not registered while the others had no documentation or insurance cover.
More than 200 additional police personnel have been deployed to Kasoa to beef up the crime-fighting capability of the police command.
The police has also intensified its surveillance and monitoring in the area with plans to demolish all weed-smoking hideouts.
Landlords in the area have also been encouraged to consult immigration officers before renting out their property to foreigners.
Meanwhile, all the suspected criminals have been put in police custody and will be arraigned.
