A/R: Gunmen attack church during Easter service, five injured
Armed robbers have stormed Heaven Embassy Chapel International at Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti region and attacked congregants.
They fired gunshots and in the process injured five church members including three children in the incident that occurred around 1:30 am Saturday during Easter watch night.
The founder and leader of the Church, Rev. O.B Newton told Class News' Elisha Adarkwah that the gun-wielding men who were wearing masks were four.
He said gunmen asked about his whereabouts immediately they stormed the church premises and gave warning shots.
Rev. Newton said the armed men demanded that everyone surrender their money and phones and also took collections offered for the night and made away with it.
He said police were called to the scene and rushed the injured to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
Currently, he said three of the injured have been treated and discharged while the other two who are in critical condition are still on admission.
The police in the Ashanti region have commenced investigations into the incident.
