A/R: Police investigate discovery of woman's body hanging from tree
Police at Mpasatia, in collaboration with the Atwima Mponua District Environmental Health Department, have launched an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman believed to be in her 20s at Anyinamso No. 1 in the Ashanti Region.
The woman's decomposing body was discovered over the weekend hanging from a tree in a bush, with a rope tied around her neck. A black polythene bag was also found at the scene.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, investigators processed the scene before the body was conveyed for immediate burial.
Speaking to Kumasi FM, the Assembly Member for the area, Sampson Cobby, said the clothing worn by the deceased suggested she may have been an apprentice.
He also raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the death, stating that the condition of the scene suggested the woman might have been killed elsewhere before her body was hanged from the tree to make it appear to be a suicide.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
