Akyem Etwereso: 2 men caged for trying to sell nephew for GHS800K
Two men have been arrested by the police for attempting to traffick a 16-year-old boy at Akim-Oda in the Eastern Region.
The two, 24-year-old Kwaku Asare, an uncle of the victim and his friend, 28-year-old Kwame Asante, were reported to the police by the Unit Committee Chairman for Akyem Etwereso for planning to sell the boy.
The Unit Committee Chairman, who posed as an agent to buy the victim for GHS800,000, lured the two suspects to Oda with the false excuse of finding him a job.
The uncle of the victim went with his friend to the Oda bus terminal to await the arrival of the agent.
The two were, however, arrested by the police.
Both men confessed to conspiring to sell the victim and are in police custody pending investigations.
