Police in Ashaiman have arrested several suspects in connection with two separate robbery incidents that occurred within hours of same day, raising fresh concerns about criminal activities in parts of the municipality.

In the first incident, a 40-year-old woman, Akosua Dwomor, reported that she was attacked and robbed of her mobile phone at Kuffour Station on the evening of May 27, 2026.

According to police sources, the victim, assisted by some members of the public, apprehended one of the suspects identified as Nii Adjei and handed him over to the police. The suspect was subsequently detained to assist with investigations.

Police officers visited the crime scene and took a statement from the complainant. In a follow-up operation led by the Ashaiman District Commander, DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa, police escorted the suspect to Nii Amui Park, where three additional suspects, were arrested.

A search conducted in the suspects’ room led to the retrieval of several items, including a cutlass, two knives, two pairs of scissors, and an iPhone believed to be linked to criminal activities. The exhibits were photographed and retained by investigators as evidence.

Meanwhile, in a separate robbery case reported later the same evening, 23-year-old Norbert Danquah sustained injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a gang of about 20 young men armed with cutlasses along the Ashaiman Underbridge Road near the Flower Pot area.

The victim reported to police with a bleeding injury to his left little finger and stated that the attackers robbed him of his Redmi 11 Pro mobile phone valued at GH¢1,600.

Police officers visited the scene and obtained a statement from the complainant. A medical report form was also issued to enable him seek treatment at a government health facility.

Investigators say efforts are underway to gather intelligence and track down the suspects involved in the attack. Police are appealing to members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to volunteer such information to aid investigations.

The incidents have once again highlighted growing concerns over robbery attacks in some parts of Ashaiman, with residents calling for intensified police patrols and stronger security measures to protect commuters and traders.
