Banker arrested by East Legon Police for raping 16-year-old student
The East Legon Police in the Greater Accra Region have arrested a banker identified as Abraham Otuteye for raping a 16-year-old student.
Mr Otuteye, according to a source at the police station, was arrested on February 7, 2025, around Marina Mall.
The source explained that on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the victim, after waiting for a vehicle for a long time to go for classes during the rush hours of the day, was approached by the suspect.
He asked her where she was going to and after her response, he told her he was also going in the same direction and decided to give her a ride.
"Along the journey, Otuteye gave the victim a cola drink after engaging her in conversation.
"According to the victim, she became unconscious after taking the drink, and by the time she regained consciousness, she found herself on a bed with Mr. Otuteye at the Movie House, East Legon," the source said.
Following his arrest, Otuteye is said to have confirmed going to the Movie House with the victim.
A medical report has confirmed that the victim was indeed raped.
The case has since been transferred to the DOVSSU Headquarters for further investigation.
