DVLA, MTTD wage war against non-compliant drivers

Crime
A joint team from DVLA and MTTD carried out the operation

Officials of the Compliance unit of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) today, Friday, 9 July 2021, conducted an operation to clamp down on motorists with embellished number plates, expired licences and those without roadworthy stickers, among other road traffic offences at Awudome in Accra.

Class News' Joshua Kojo Mensah reported that the DVLA and the Motor Traffic and Transport Division (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, undertook the operation to serve as a caution to motorists who use embellished number plates and fail to acquire roadworthy, insurance and other stickers.

The team also stopped drivers whose vehicle windows were heavily-tinted.

According to them, the vehicles should not have glasses that are tinted beyond 70%.

Some of the drivers found to have flouted the laws, especially those with embellished and/or wrong number plates, were processed for court.

The team hinted at undertaking similar exercises in different parts of the country, especially at night.
