E/R: Police arrest murder suspect at Kibi
The Eastern South Regional Police Command arrested murder suspect Kwame Arhin.
Otherwise known as Abompe, the 37-year-old carpenter was grabbed by police on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at a bush near Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.
When a distress call came through on Saturday, November 15, alleging the murder of a man at Kibi Newtown, the Eastern South Regional Police Command deployed teams of detectives including the Crime Scene Management team to the alleged crime scene near the Kibi Court Complex to commence investigations.
At the scene, police found the body of a male adult identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong. The scene was processed and the body was removed and deposited at the Kibi Government Hospital morgue and subsequently transferred to Police Hospital, Accra, for preservation and autopsy.
Per premelinary investigations, a misunderstanding between the deceased and suspect Kwame 'Abompe' Arhin led to Abompe slashing the Jonas' throat with a cutlass and absconding. Jonas was a security guard at Kibi Presbyterian College of Education.
Abompe is in custody being processed for court whilst investigations is ongoing.
