The family of 29-year-old civil engineer Jeffrey Boakye Danquah is calling for justice following his alleged shooting death by a military officer.

Relatives of the deceased, led by his sister, Gifty Serwaa, gathered at the Akropong District Court on Monday when the accused, Private Nsarkoh Christopher Nkyinkyi, appeared before the court for the second time.

Speaking to Joy News, family members said they hope the outcome of the case will serve as a warning to security personnel to act responsibly in the course of their duties.

Emotions ran high during the proceedings, with police officers intervening to calm some relatives who directed their anger at the accused.

The incident occurred several weeks ago at the Ghana Armed Forces Central Command Headquarters in Kumasi following a disagreement between Private Nkyinkyi and Jeffrey Danquah.

According to the prosecution, the confrontation escalated, and the accused allegedly discharged an M16 rifle at close range. The bullet reportedly struck Danquah in the chest and exited through his back, leading to his death.

Prosecutors informed the court that investigations are nearing completion. However, they noted that military authorities have yet to produce the rifle allegedly used in the shooting despite an earlier court directive.

Presiding Judge Emmanuel Wiafe Adu ordered that Private Nkyinkyi remain in custody at the Central Command Headquarters in Kumasi pending the next hearing.

ASP Jonas Newlove Adjei, Crime Officer at the Suntreso Police District Command and prosecutor in the case, said he was satisfied with the adjournment and expressed confidence that ongoing investigations would help establish the facts and support the pursuit of justice.

The case has been adjourned to June 22, 2026.
