OSP declares former Finance Ministry Advisor wanted over SML corruption probe

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared Ernest Darko Akore, a former Chef de Cabinet (Technical Advisor) at Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into corruption and corruption-related offences linked to the Revenue Assurance Contract between the Ministry of Finance and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
According to an official notice released by the OSP, Mr. Akore is wanted pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the High Court – Criminal Division, in the case of Republic v. Ernest D. Akore (Suit No. 05/0397/2023).
The OSP’s statement described Mr. Akore as a 67-year-old male, born on 5 February 1958, with black eyes and black hair and a brown complexion.
He is believed to be a possible dual Ghanaian-American national, having held a U.S. passport in previous years.
His current whereabouts are unknown, but authorities suspect he may be in the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, or South Africa.
The public has been urged to assist the Office by providing any information that could lead to his arrest.
Anyone with credible leads is encouraged to call or send a WhatsApp message to 0554484498 or 0554484488.
The OSP reiterated that the warrant forms part of its broader anti-corruption efforts surrounding the controversial SML Revenue Assurance Contract, which has drawn significant public and parliamentary scrutiny over allegations of inflated payments and procedural breaches.
The Office emphasised that Mr. Akore remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
