Police arrest two at Ayi Mensah with large haul of suspected narcotics
The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with the possession of eleven large compressed sacks of a substance believed to be narcotics during a routine patrol operation at Ayi Mensah in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects, identified as Mathew Narkotey and Augustine Teye, were apprehended on 7th June 2025 by officers from the National Operations Department (NOD).
The arrest occurred after a thorough search of a Mazda pick-up truck with registration number GT 3490-P, in which the suspected contraband was concealed.
The vehicle and the substances have since been impounded and secured at the Joint Operations Centre for evidentiary purposes.
Police say both suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt for one Martey, who has been identified by the suspects as the intended recipient of the consignment.
The Police Service reiterated its commitment to combating the illicit drug trade and has urged the public to volunteer information that may assist in the arrest of other accomplices.
