Police foil attempted cell break at Akumadan

The police command at Akumadan in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, over the weekend, foiled an attempt by a remand prisoner to escape from the cells of the Akumadan Police Station.
Sumaila Dauda attempted to break portions of the wall of the cells to escape.
The suspect, according to the police, got hold of the metal handle of the cell’s bucket and used it to scrape a large portion of the cell to escape from custody.
A policeman on duty, who saw the suspect in the act, alerted his colleagues.
Sumaila, who is in court for causing harm, will also face a fresh charge of attempting to escape from lawful custody.
The police noted that it has transferred him from Akumadan to Nkenkenso to continue with investigations.
