Slap-happy policeman interdicted

The Ghana Police Service has interdicted Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim of the Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region for professional misconduct following the release of a viral video showing him assaulting a handcuffed man.
The footage, widely circulated online, shows Corporal Ibrahim repeatedly slapping the distressed man and ordering him to "go down."
The man, appearing shaken, pleaded for calmer treatment, but the officer persisted, even grabbing him by the neck during the altercation.
In response, the Police Service announced Corporal Ibrahim's immediate interdiction to enable a thorough investigation into his actions, in accordance with the Service's disciplinary procedures.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has since contacted the victim's family to offer support and ensure their concerns are addressed.
The IGP has instructed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to work closely with the family throughout the investigation.
The Police reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining professionalism and accountability within the force.
