Tsopoli: Man, wife, son shot dead, burnt by gunmen
A husband, a wife and their son have been shot dead and their bodies set ablaze and burnt beyond recognition at Tsopoli near Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
Narrating the murder to Benjamin Akakpo on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Friday, 13 September 2019, Mr Reuben Ayipah, a nephew to the deceased man, Oman Kwaw Koranteng, said his uncle and his wife, Sophia Kpotogi Daale and their son, Oman Akuaku, were accosted by some unknown persons while returning from their farm on Thursday [12 September 2019] evening.
The suspects, according to Mr Ayipah, put the charred bodies in a Toyota Pickup truck parked on the way to the farm and bolted.
Mr Ayipah said the townsfolks believe the perpetrators are residents of the area as the deceased had issues with some people over a piece of land.
Confirming the incident on the same show, ACP Dodzi Hlordze, the Divisional Police Commander, Prampram, said on Thursday, at about 7 p.m., the police had a telephone call about what had happened.
“We proceeded to the scene and we saw a Pickup with burnt bodies in it. You cannot recognise anybody and we saw three spent cartridges at where the car was parked. We suspect the people were shot and their bodies set ablaze,” he stated.
ACP Hlordze said investigations are still ongoing and “we’ll surely get the perpetrators.”
The charred bodies are being prepared to be taken to the police hospital mortuary.
