UEW lecturer murdered and buried behind his home

The Winneba Divisional Police Command has arrested a former convict, Joshua Arthur, in connection with the gruesome murder of Prof Amedeke, a lecturer in the Chemistry Department of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in the Central Region.
Prof. Amedeke was found murdered and buried behind his residence at Effutu Gyahadze in the Effutu Municipality, sending shockwaves through the community and the university fraternity.
According to reports, the suspect, Joshua Arthur, allegedly slit the lecturer’s throat, disemboweled him, and buried the body in a shallow grave behind the house.
The horrific details were disclosed by a community opinion leader, John Quaye, during an interview with journalist Samuel Nana Tawiah.
The suspect is currently in police custody at Ateetu Police Station in Effutu, assisting with investigations.
Confirming the incident, Winneba Divisional Police Commander ACP Ibrahim Opoku stated that police launched a search after receiving intelligence and eventually retrieved the body from the professor’s compound.
The motive behind the murder is still under investigation, and police have assured the public of a thorough inquiry to ensure justice is served.
The University of Education, Winneba, and the local community have expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the loss of Prof. Amedeke, who was described as a dedicated academic and respected member of society.
