V/R: Three busted for police recruitment fraud
Police in the Volta Region has arrested three persons for allegedly engaging in recruitment fraud in the ongoing security services recruitment exercise.
The suspects are Amenya Bernard,18; Godsway Adzika, 21; and Godson Wemegah, 21.
They were arrested in Akatsi on 14 September 2021.
A statement issued by the police said their arrest “follows a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by Volta Regional Police Commander DCOP Edward Oduro Kwanteg, advertising to assist potential applicants to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.”
Police investigations revealed that many have fallen victims to the scam.
The statement further said the police is not responsible for recruitment and, therefore, desperate applicants must be vigilant.
“The command wishes to state that it is not responsible for recruiting persons into the service, as such, desperate applicants should be wary of protocol allocations being offered all over the place,” the statement said.
Five persons have so far been picked up in the past weeks for engaging in such fraudulent recruitment scams.
