The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested two men in connection with a disturbing viral video that shows the physical assault and abuse of two teenagers at Effiakuma in the Western Region.

The arrests were carried out by the Western Regional Police Command on Thursday, February 26, 2026, after authorities received the footage through a presenter at Connect FM.

Police say the video shows the suspects assaulting the two teenagers, aged 13 and 17, and coercing them into an inappropriate act while onlookers recorded and mocked the incident.

The suspects have been identified as Edward Azalekor, 52, and Martin Amuzu, 35, who is reportedly an uncle of the female victim.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident followed a domestic dispute. The girl’s mother allegedly reported her to Azalekor, who serves as an assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, to discipline her after she returned home late. Police say the suspects then lured the teenage boy to the location and forced both minors into the humiliating situation.

The two accused persons were arraigned before the Harbor District Court in Takoradi on Friday, February 27, 2026. They were granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 each and are expected to reappear in court on March 5, 2026.

Meanwhile, the female victim is currently under the care of the Department of Social Welfare for protection and support.

Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest another suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the incident and is currently on the run.

The command has assured the public that it remains committed to pursuing justice in the case and protecting vulnerable persons, especially children, from abuse.
