A/R: Renovate Offinso M/A school now – PTA to gov't
The parents and teachers of pupils at the Offinso Kokote M/A Junior High School in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government to help them to renovate the school structure.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman of the school, Owoahene Achampong, told the media that there has been no renovation in the school for the more than 70 years of its existence.
Describing the school building as a death trap, he noted that it has no toilet facility, has worn-out roofing sheets and fraught with many other problems.
The senior housemaster of the school, Mr James Owusu, also made a request to the Municipal Assembly and Education Directorate to provide the school an lCT Centre, staff common room and toilet facility.
According to Mr Owusu, whenever it is about to rain, they have to quickly send the pupils home for their own safety.
He stated that the school authorities had complained several times to the Education Directorate but no action has been taken.
The PTA, therefore, appealed to the government and other stakeholders to expedite action toward ensuring a safe environment for teaching and learning.
