A/R: Student dies after school denies him exeat
A second-year General Arts student of the Dwamena Akenten Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region has died after he was allegedly denied an exeat to go home for medical treatment by the senior housemaster.
The deceased reportedly requested for the exeat to go home on Sunday, 9 February 2020 but to no avail.
According to one of the students, their colleague was found dead in the dormitory after school hours on Tuesday, 11 February 2020.
He was confirmed dead at the St. Patrick Hospital.
The senior housemaster has denied claims that he refused to grant the student the exeat, thus, his death.
He said both he and the headmaster, as fathers, could not have been that cold to the boy’s situation.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the schools are engaged in a closed-door meeting with the family and the police so the body can be released to the parents who insist on taking the body for burial in accordance with Islamic custom.
