Akro Sec Tech shut down after students lynched suspected thieves
The Akro Secondary Technical School in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region has been shut down.
The decision was taken by the Eastern Regional Education Directorate in consultation with the Municipal Security Council.
The shutdown comes after some students attacked two suspected thieves who allegedly were caught at the girls’ dormitory on Friday, January 21.
One of the suspects after he was beaten to pulp died later at the St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital.
The deceased Sackitey has been identified as a former pantryman at the school but now with Krobo Girls Senior High School.
The decision to temporarily close down the school according to the education directorate is to prevent an irate group of townfolks from launching a reprisal attack on the students.
