Amfo appointed Ag. UG VC
The newly constituted council of the University of Ghana, Legon, has appointed Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university.
A statement signed by the University's Registrar, Mercy Haizel-Ashia today, Monday, 26 July 2021 indicated that Prof Amfo's appointment takes effect from 1 August 2021 until when the University Council appoints a substantive Vice-Chancellor.
Earlier today, a new Council of the University of Ghana, Legon was inaugurated and sworn in by the Minister of Education at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Education, Accra.
The council has Justice Sophia A.B. Akuffo as Chair.
In a short meeting after the inauguration of the new Council, it considered Section 10 (2) (b) of the University of Ghana Act 2010 (Act 806), and Section 6(3) of the University of Ghana Statutes, and decided on the appointment of the senior of the two Pro Vice-Chancellors, to act.
Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo was the Pro-Vice Chancellor with responsibility for Academic and Student Affairs.
She is the first female to rise to the rank of Acting Vice-Chancellor.
