Awutu Senya East MCE strengthens partnership with Ghana Prisons Service to establish model School at Awutu Camp Prisons
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region, Mr Seth Sabah Serwornoo Banini, has reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Ghana Prisons Service toward the establishment of a model experimental basic school within the Awutu Camp Prisons enclave.
As part of efforts to finalise all preparatory works and documentation, the MCE led a delegation comprising officials from the Municipal Education Directorate and the Assembly’s legal team to the site to conclude discussions and technical arrangements for the commencement of construction.
According to the MCE, the planned Experimental School is envisioned to become a centre of discipline and academic excellence within the municipality’s basic education system.
He explained that the initiative forms part of a broader agenda to promote holistic educational development for the people of Awutu Senya East, ensuring that every child has access to quality learning facilities in a conducive environment.
“The establishment of this model school will not only enhance access to quality education but also set new standards in discipline, innovation, and academic performance,” he said, noting that the Assembly is “pulling all necessary strings, plans, and policies to make this vision a reality.”
The MCE was accompanied by Madam Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and other key stakeholders who pledged their full support for the initiative.
The project, when completed, is expected to serve both children of prison officers and surrounding communities, strengthening the link between education, rehabilitation, and community development.
