Emefa Foundation donates to deprived schools in Central Tongu
The Emefa foundation, as part of its school initiatives dubbed ‘Start Right Project’, has reached out to schools in some underprivileged areas of the Central Tongu district in the Volta Region.
The team, led by its founder Yvette Emefa Gbeve, on Friday, May 13, 2022, donated 1,500 stationeries and 100 school uniforms to pupils in four deprived basic schools in the district.
The foundation also gave playing kits to kindergarteners and storybooks to enable them to develop an interest and the habit of reading.
The beneficiary schools are Awadiwokome Primary School, Dekpoe Basic School, Meyikpor Primary School, and Kowuadadekofe primary.
The pupils were elated to receive the items and thanked the foundation for its benevolence toward their schools as part of the initiative.
The Emefa foundation also paid a courtesy call on the management of the Ghana Education Service in the district where Ms Gbeve gave a preview of the activities of the foundation and added that the core belief of the organisation was that every child deserves a good education, safe and conducive environment as well as learning materials that will aid their holistic education no matter the location of their schools.
The Director of Education in the district, Madam Happy Tsifokor, thanked the team for choosing schools in the district for this project.
She also applauded the leadership of the foundation for visiting their office before having access to the schools.
Ms Gbeve believes that every child in any deprived area deserves a better education regardless of where their school is located in the country.
She further called for the need for internal mentoring and coaching programmes for the young pupils to be given the necessary guidance to help them achieve their educational goals and ambitions in life.
The ‘Start Right Project’ is a yearly initiative of the Emefa Foundation where the organization provides stationeries and school uniforms to pupils in deprived areas in order to help them start each new academic year right.
