Engage PTAs on online learning for pupils – NIB

The National Inspectorate Board (NIB) has called on all private schools to engage with their Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to address concerns of parents regarding the implementation of alternative methods of teaching and learning, mainly online by the schools during the COVID-19 period.
According to the NIB, although online learning is laudable, parents have raised concerns on the following:
1. How do they prepare their wards for online classes and how do they prepare themselves to support their wards?
2. Whether they are to pay the school fees of their wards in full or not?
The NIB, in a statement, asked private schools to note that establishing and having an active PTA is a requirement for certification as a school, thus, it is important to engage PTAs to secure their support in delivering quality education to learners.
The Board further stated that schools without PTAs will not be given a certificate of registration by NIB or their existing certifications will not be renewed.
