The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Constituency, has taken a significant step in implementing the National Digital Literacy Project.

This initiative involved the provision of Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth hundreds of Ghana cedis to two cluster of schools to establish two smart classrooms to boost the learning of ICT and prepare the students for the global market.

The beneficiary schools, the Presby Cluster of schools in Apenkwa and Abeka Cluster of schools at Fadama in the Okaikwei Central Constituency, located in the Greater Accra Region, received valuable equipment.

These items include 50 Tablets, four changing cabinets, one laptop, a projector, 10 BOTs, and 10 electronic kits.

During a brief ceremony, the MP, Mr Patrick Boamah, handed over the equipment to the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Cynthia Aboni.

He explained that these resources are aimed at enhancing ICT teaching and learning in the area.

He noted that he had to lobby for the project to benefit the pupils in the constituency.

''This project represents a government initiative in partnership with a private partner called Positivo BGH,'' he said.

Mr Boamah encouraged the school heads receiving the equipment not to monopolise its use and assured the students that the government is also working on the construction of new school blocks to replace the dilapidated ones.

Mr Viraj Bhat, a representative from Positivo BGH, stated that the company aims to supply smart classroom equipment to approximately 700 schools across the country.

The government's decision to establish these smart classrooms was influenced by the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic when many public schools struggled to continue learning online when physical schools were closed.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Cynthia Aboni, expressed her gratitude to the MP and the government for recognising the efforts of teachers and students in the two clusters of schools.

She assured that the equipment would be used for its intended purpose
